Ozark Mountains
28th Mar – 4th Apr
Spend a few days driving around southern Arkansas in the Ozarks and you’ll know why they call it the Natural State.
The Ozark mountains offer a vast area of natural beauty and twisty roads, and with a population of only 3m in Arkansas the limited traffic allows great enjoyment when exploring the region.
Summary
We start on Sunday lunch time with a leisurely drive a few hours north of Dallas to a resort hotel for our staging point before embarking on the drive to the Ozarks.

Day 1 – After breakfast we’ll have our first drivers briefing before heading east towards the Ozarks. Late morning we’ll reach the Ouachita Mountans and the start of the 54 mile long Talimena Scenic Byway, a beautiful crest top road crossing the east-west mountain range.

We’ll lunch at a scenic overview lodge on top of the mountains, then continue our drive up another range of mountains reaching the highest point in Arkansas for our overnight stop.

Tuesday – This morning we will descend from the highest point in Arkansas to the central region, home to some of the best driving roads in the region. We will travel the length of a well known State Highway which twists and turns through central Arkansas into a scenic town which is on the National Register of Historic places.

Wednesday – We will drive back south through the heart of central Arkansas and loop back up to end in a popular Summer resort town with many amenities and we’ll be staying at a super hotel on the lake complete with Spa in case anyone wants to take time off and relax.

Thursday – We’ll have a gentler drive and /or feel free to take a day off and explore Branson, enjoy the Spa at the Chateau. We start north and do a loop down west into further hilly areas with some great roads and even manage a short ferry ride!

Friday – We will revisit some of the great roads in Northwest Arkansas on a drive south to Fort Smith for our final night, departing back home Saturday morning.
